The Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) is a nonprofit organization that provides economic opportunities for Latinos in Minnesota by offering ongoing technical assistance, access to lending capital, and training employees in new skills and technologies. LEDC has been engaged in this work for nearly two decades and, as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), can raise capital from a wide range of philanthropic, corporate, and governmental sources to then invest consistent with the mission, goals, and activities described above.
Job Summary:
The Development Manager will lead LEDC’s stewardship program, working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Communications Manager. The Development Manager is an experienced program manager who is skillful in building and managing relationships with various individuals, including major donors, corporate representatives, and community stakeholders. They should be organized and goal-oriented; exhibit a high level of professionalism and maturity; display superb written and oral communication skills, including comfort with external relations; demonstrate attention to detail, and be able to multitask and meet deadlines. In addition, a passion for the LEDC’s mission to support and foster the economic prosperity of Latinx entrepreneurs is essential.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees the daily workflow of the Development department.
Oversees contractors who may be brought on for specialized proposals.
Duties/Responsibilities: Responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategic
Create and implement LEDC’s Development strategies that help meet our mission and further our reach within the Minnesota Latino business sector.
Create and manage grant solicitation calendar by researching the current and new grant deadlines and requirements for national, state, and local opportunities.
Manage and track all grant funds in conjunction with our accounting department (funds available and disbursements of funds).
Ensure timely and accurate gift entry and acknowledgment process, including documentation and follow-up of verbal and written pledges.
Coordinate with Director of Operations the monitoring of progress in grant and contract goals and timelines.
Donor and event management
Develop and manage a donor portfolio including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
Obtain and develop the sponsorships and partnerships to support large-scale fundraising events (Latino Scholarship Fund, Annual membership meeting, Business districts support).
Steward donors through a variety of communication tools including, but not limited to; email, letters, social media, phone, virtual meetings, and, in-person meetings.
Track and recognize pro bono support and in-kind donations provided to the organization.
Use donor data to develop differentiated strategies for communicating with donors at different levels of giving.
Communications
Create donor-facing communications to support fundraising activities, including fact sheets, concept papers, presentations, proposals, and stewardship materials.
Coordinates with the communications manager the creation of a messaging and communications strategy for building a sustained base of donors.
Establish a regular communication cadence to update and recognize donors through print and digital media.
Design and manage cultivation events (volunteer experiences, facility tours, receptions, etc.) for individual donors.
Actively participate in team meetings, workgroups, and organization-wide initiatives.
Writing
Research, write and submit all proposals or selected components for grants and contracts.
Manage grant writers when needed for specific proposals during times of high volume and specific proposals such as CDFI and other government contracts.
Responsible for writing and or coordinating all reporting in a timely manner.
Gathers statistics and rationale to use in grants.
Work in conjunction with Director of Operations on project leadership activities
Develop efficient processes and procedures to ensure the donor’s experiences are positive and professional.
Ensure reporting systems are complete, efficient, accurate, and monitored.
Create metrics and a reporting system to track development progress.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Minimum of 2 years of development/fundraising experience with a proven track record of securing major gifts from philanthropic partners and or individuals.
Be a visible presence at LEDC’s public functions and special events.
Passionate about LEDC’s mission; committed to teamwork and achieving results.
Cultural competency and the ability to engage and work constructively with underrepresented communities.
Advanced knowledge and experience with computer programs that support the development team, including Microsoft Office.
Experience with constituent management relationship software.
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not required.
